Fort Hood
They came to this place
This building to wait in line
To begin the process to go to far off lands
to serve this great Country
They were of many faces
And came from different places.
They were fathers, brothers, sisters and even a mother
All waiting in line
Then without a warning the door opened wide
and death wearing the the same suit walked in
both guns blazing and yelling “Allah Ackbar!!”
quickly put and end to those lives .
We do not know the why
and possibly we will never understand
why someone who wore the same suit of gray
brought death with him that day
We mourn the loss of our dear brothers and sisters in arms
We mourn with the families they leave behind
We all ask why and try to understand
why this happened here in a place they called Home.
Though the mad man’s gun spoke loudly with his hate
For these young soldiers principals and lives.
We are reminded of another place in a valley in Virginia,
and another mad man’s rage
That on the 16th of April, cut short the promise.
And in the aftermath of that day,
The ones that were left to pray
Stood up firmly and defiantly and said
“We Shall Prevail !”
So shall we all, who proudly wear
the colors of our country’s Armed might
“WE SHAL:L PREVAIL! WE ARE THE ARMY!”
My deepest sympathies to my brothers and their families of Fort Hood.
I am proud to say that I have had the honor to wear both the Forest green of the Marine Corps and the Army Green.
